With foreign returnees among new Covid cases and spreading infections in several countries, particularly China, India has significantly increased coronavirus monitoring measures, including mock drills being held today across a number of health facilities in several states and Union territories to ensure their readiness to deal with any eventuality related to the novel virus, in response to a Centre advisory.

Bharat Biotech announced the price of its nasal vaccine iNCOVACC on Tuesday. The vaccine will cost Rs 800, with a 5% GST added on top.

The vaccine, iNCOVACC, is available on CoWin for Rs 800 in private markets and Rs 325 in supplies to the Centre and state governments, according to the company.

Bharat Biotech’s intranasal coronavirus vaccine costs have been revealed. A single dose of Bharat Biotech’s intranasal vaccine iNCOVACC, which was approved for inclusion in India’s Covid-19 immunisation programme last week, will cost Rs 800, plus 5% GST in private hospitals.

The Delhi government withdrew its order to deploy government school teachers on Covid-19 duty at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport from December 31 to January 15, a day after teachers protested and questions were raised.

“COVAXIN and iNCOVACC are two Covid vaccines developed from two different platforms with two different delivery systems. The vector intranasal delivery platform enables us to develop products quickly, scale them up, and provide simple and painless immunisation during public health emergencies and pandemics “Dr Krishna Ella, Executive Chairman of Bharat Biotech.

When compared to injections, nasal vaccines have several advantages. Aside from protecting the virus’s entry points, nasal vaccines are simple to store, produce little waste, and are simple to distribute.

Mucosal IgA antibody levels were found to be significantly higher in iNCOVACC recipients (measured in the saliva). According to the release, mucosal IgA antibodies in the upper respiratory tract may help reduce infections and transmission.
