Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has surpassed cricketer Virat Kohli to become the most valuable celebrity in 2022, with a brand value of $181.7 million.

According to a report titled “Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2022: Beyond the Mainstream,” Singh dethroned cricketer Virat Kohli, who had held the top spot for five consecutive years.

Ace cricketer Virat Kohli came in second place with a brand value of $176.9 million, while Akshay Kumar remained in third place with a brand value of $153.6 million.

Meanwhile, South Indian stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna made their debut on the list of India’s top 25 most valuable celebrities. Rashmika Mandanna ranked 25th with a brand value of $25.3 million, while Allu Arjun ranked 20th with a brand value of $31.4 million.

Ranveer Singh ($181.7 million), Virat Kohli ($176.9 million), Akshay Kumar ($153.6 million), Alia Bhatt ($102.9 million), and Deepika Padukone ($82.9 million) were the top five celebrities in terms of brand value in 2022. The overall brand value of the top 25 celebrities in 2022 is estimated to be $1.6 billion, a 29.1% increase from 2021. The study ranks India’s most powerful celebrity brands based on brand values derived from their portfolios of brand endorsements and relative social media presence.


Among South Indian stars, Allu Arjun (KFC, RedBus, Coca Cola, Zomato), Ram Charan (Hero MotoCorp, Parle Agro), Rashmika Mandanna (Wakefit, boAt, Citibank, McDonald’s), Samantha Ruth Prabhu (MIVI, Dream11, Mamaearth, Myntra, PhonePe) and Tamannaah Bhatia (Hindware, SUGAR Cosmetics, Reebok, Volkswagen) lead in terms of celebrity brand value.

Spending on sports celebrity endorsements is expected to rise in 2022. According to the report, Indian non-cricket athletes accounted for 126 of the total 444 endorsement deals. Furthermore, sponsorships for emerging athletes increased by 79% during the 2021 Olympics, accounting for 13% of total brand endorsement value.

Former cricketer MS Dhoni ranked sixth on the list, with a brand worth more than $80 million. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketing icon, entered the top-10 club in 2022, ranking eighth with a brand value of $73.6 million.

It should be noted that the overall brand value of the top 25 celebrities in 2022 is estimated to be $1.6 billion, a 29.1% increase from 2021.
