Guwahati double murder: The body of Amarjyoti Dey, who went missing in August last year and is believed to have been murdered and dismembered by his wife Bandana Kalita, has been recovered by police.
On Tuesday, the body was discovered in a plastic bag near Dawki Road.
Amarjyoti Dey went missing on August 17 and was initially suspected of being kidnapped.
However, the police investigation quickly revealed that he had been murdered and his body had been chopped up.
Bandana Kalita, his wife, was later arrested and is currently facing murder charges.
The recovery of Amarjyoti’s body has given his family and friends closure.
It should be noted that the victims in the case, a mother and her son, have been reported missing since August of last year.

Vandana Kalita’s father, the prime accused in the Noonmati murder case in Guwahati, Assam, has asked authorities to shoot his daughter if she is found guilty of murdering her husband and mother-in-law.
“Shoot her (Vandana Kalita) if she has committed the crime,” Vandana Kalita’s father told the media. I don’t want a daughter like that. If she truly murdered her husband and mother-in-law, I would have nothing to do with her.
The accused Bandana also stated that after murdering her husband Amarjyoti Dey and mother-in-law Shankari Dey with the assistance of her partner and a friend, she cut her dead husband’s and mother-in-bodies law’s into multiple pieces and stored them in the refrigerator on August 17, 2022, and left the rented home where she was staying with her deceased husband in Noonmati, Guwahati.
Kalita also admitted that she returned to clean the house, took the body parts from the refrigerator, and disposed of them on August 21, 2022 in Dawki, Meghalaya.
Neighbors who were familiar with the situation were shocked to learn of the incident and confirmed that the accused Bandana Kalita came to clean the house last year and saw her burning the bed and other clothes on the terrace.
