IAF: The IAF Chief, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, announced the creation of a weapon system branch for officers in the Indian Air Force on Saturday while speaking at the 90th edition of Indian Air Force Day. This is the first time a new operational branch has been established since independence. The creation of this branch, according to the IAF Chief, would result in savings of over Rs 3,400 crore due to reduced expenditure on flying training.

The central government has approved the establishment of a weapon system branch for Indian Air Force officers, which will save the service Rs 3,400 crore in flying training, said Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari here on Saturday.

“On this historic occasion, it is my honor to announce that the government has approved the establishment of a weapon system branch for IAF officers. This is the first time since the country’s independence that a new operational branch has been established “He stated.
According to him, the weapon system branch will primarily operate surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, remotely piloted aircraft, and weapon system operators in twin and multi-crew aircraft.
According to the IAF chief, the establishment of this branch would result in savings of over Rs 3,400 crore due to reduced expenditure on flying training.
On Saturday morning, a ceremonial parade was held at the air force station here.
Chaudhari conducted an inspection of the parade, which was followed by a march-past.
Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command, was among the senior IAF officers present.
The IAF is also laying the groundwork for the induction of Agniveers to begin next year. “We also intend to induct female Agniveers beginning next year.” Infrastructure construction is currently underway.”
