Gandhi Jayanti 2022: Mahatma Gandhi, born on October 2, 1869, in Gujarat’s Porbandar, was a staunch supporter of the fundamentals of Satya (truth) and Ahimsa (nonviolence) (non-violence). Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 153rd birth anniversary on Sunday, saying that Gandhi Jayanti is extra special this year because ‘India is marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’
