Northeast Election Results 2023: The BJP-led alliance reached the halfway point in Nagaland and Tripura at 10 a.m. In Meghalaya, the NPP has taken an early lead with 25 seats. The NPP, led by Conrad Sangma, is only five seats short of the halfway point. The northeast electoral contest hinges on 62.8 lakh eligible voters, with women outnumbering men. Each of the three states with 60-member legislatures has 1.76 lakh newly eligible voters in the 18-19 age group and 97,100 voters in the 80-plus age group, including 2,644 centenarians. The Tripura Assembly Election 2023 was held on February 16, 2023, while the Meghalaya and Nagaland Assembly elections were held on February 27, 2023.

As votes were counted today in three northeastern states, the BJP and its allies surged ahead in Nagaland. The party may face a problem. Tripura and Meghalaya, where estranged ally Conrad Sangma is in charge in Northeast Election Results 2023.

In Tripura, the ruling BJP has pulled ahead of its nearest rival, the Left-Congress coalition. The BJP is hoping for a big comeback, far above its 2018 score of 36. The BJP currently controls 33 seats, two more than the majority threshold.

“Tripura will have a BJP Chief Minister, Nagaland will have a coalition government, and Meghalaya will be decided based on seats won by the BJP,” Assam Chief Minister and the BJP’s chief strategist in the northeast, Himanta Biswa Sarma, predicted yesterday.
In Tripura, the Tipra Motha, led by former royal Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, holds a 12-seat majority. The tribal-dominated party, which advocates for a Greater Tipraland, is viewed as an x-factor in these elections in Northeast Election Results 2023.

Meghalaya appears to be heading for a hung assembly, with no single party commanding a clear majority. Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party (NPP) has 25 seats, six short of a majority.
In Nagaland, the BJP and its coalition partner, the NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party), have surged ahead and now hold a 34-seat majority in the 60-member assembly.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate P Bashangmongba Chang won against NCP’s Toyang Chang from the Tuensang Sadar-I seat by 5,644 votes.

Sniawbhalang Dhar of the Conrad Sangma-led NPP has won the Nartiang seat with a margin of 2,123 votes. Dhar got 16,969 votes, as per Election Commission.

In 2018, the BJP won 44 seats in Tripura, with the Left taking 16 seats. The TMP and independents were unable to gain traction. The BJP received 51% of the vote, while the Left received 46.1 percent.
