BJP improved on its fall in the early lead, clocking a lead in 32 of 60 seats as royal scion Pradyot Kishore’s TIPRA Motha party climbed ahead in 10 seats in initial trends. While the CPI(M) has a 12-seat advantage, Congress has a four-seat advantage. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister, is leading in the Town Bardowali constituency.
Tripura’s security has been beefed up in preparation for the counting of votes cast during the elections, and security forces are conducting mobile patrols. The counting is taking place at 21 locations, according to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarrao, and the trends are expected to be clear around noon after 5-8 rounds of counting.
TIPRA Motha, which is contesting the Tripura Assembly elections for the first time this year, currently leads in 12 seats.
The royal heir Brishaketu Debbarma, of the Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma-led party, was declared victorious with a margin of 16,485 votes over CPIM candidate Kumodh Debbarna, who received 5,679 votes, in the Simna ST reserved seat in West Tripura. Brishaketu was an IPFT MLA in 2018, but he moved to Motha in 2021 and lost his Assembly seat.
Union Minister of State for Social Empowerment Justice Pratima Bhoumik is leading the Dhanpur assembly constituency in Sepahijala district by 1,302 votes over CPIM candidate Kaushik Chanda, who is making his debut from the seat after former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar stepped down from contesting this year’s assembly elections.
