Dhemaji: On Saturday, a retired police officer was killed when a police officer opened fire on him in North Assam’s Dhemaji district.
According to reports, retired police officer Amulya Barua was shot dead with his service pistol by Alok Konwar, a sub-inspector at Dibrugarh Police Station.
The sub-inspector allegedly left Dibrugarh in the morning after emergency night duty, traveled to Dhemaji, and fired three times at Amulya Barua, a retired Arunachal Pradesh police officer.
The police suspected that Barua was murdered because of personal animosity. Following the incident, panic gripped the area. Konwar surrendered to the police after committing the crime. A new investigation into the matter has been launched.
The police believe Konwar killed the ex-cop as a result of a personal feud.
“After committing the crime, Alok Konwar surrendered to the police. “We have opened an investigation into the incident,” a police official said.
