Raijor Dal party leader and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi asserts that the recent incidents in Assam linked to the ULFA-Independent militant group are fabricated encounters.

Addressing the media today, Gogoi called these encounters as fake and said that the encounter in Sadiya where three youths were shot was fake.

Akhil Gogoi expressed doubts about the authenticity of all these shooting incidents, labelling them as fake encounters. He mentioned individuals like Biswanth Borgohain, Manoj Borgohain, and Dipjyoti Neog, asserting that they were contract workers at ASEB who lost their jobs. According to Gogoi, they were reportedly drinking alcohol and, while in an inebriated state, informed their families that they intended to join the ULFA. Subsequently, after their families reported this to the police, they were taken and encountered. Gogoi concluded that it is evident these encounters were not genuine.

Gogoi raised concerns about the gunfire incident in the Sivasagar constituency, involving the arrest of Pallab Jyoti Gogoi in connection with the Joysagar grenade blast. He further stated that the encounter involving Pranjal Das in Baihata Chariali is also not genuine.

Police arrested Pallab Jyoti Gogoi on Friday under suspicion of his involvement in a grenade blast near the CRPF camp in Joysagar on December 9. During the police encounter, Pallab Jyoti Gogoi sustained injuries and is presently receiving medical treatment.

Police assert that Pallab Jyoti Gogoi played a direct role in the Joysagar blast, citing his previous arrest in 2019 for allegedly staying in the ULFA Swadhin camp for a month. However, Pallab’s father strongly refuted the police’s assertion.

Simultaneously, the ULFA-I, in a statement, alleges that the encounters are fabricated and demands evidence for the incidents and the alleged connection of the victims with the banned outfit.

Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi has urged the Chief Minister and the DGP to put an end to the purported fake encounters in the state. In a formal demand, Raijor Dal insists on halting such incidents, cautioning the Chief Minister and the DGP. Gogoi emphasized that this is a clear demand from an opposition party and a legislator like Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also an MLA.
