Assam’s entrepreneur and media figure Riniki Bhuyan Sharma gained recognition in India Today’s esteemed ‘The She List’ featuring the top 100 women achievers in India.

The Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma heads the largest media conglomerate in northeast India, overseeing two news channels, three entertainment channels, and an Assamese newspaper, ranked 51 among 100 other women achievers.

Transitioning from the media industry in 2016, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma shifted her focus to a socially conscious initiative called the Golden Threads of Assam. This project aims not only to preserve Muga, the iconic Assam silk, but also to showcase it on a global scale.

While working towards this goal, she has brought social and financial empowerment to the women engaged in weaving this native fabric. This commitment to women’s issues inspired Riniki to establish Aadya, a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit, in 2018.

In the previous year, she entered the field of education with the establishment of Vandya International, the largest school in the Northeast in terms of infrastructure. Currently, she is preparing to venture into the hospitality industry with the creation of a luxury retreat for nature enthusiasts.

Raised in a family with a robust business presence in Guwahati, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma attended St Mary’s School and Cotton College before obtaining a law degree. Her diverse contributions to both society and the media sector have secured her the 51st position on this esteemed list, alongside notable women like Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, a pioneer in biotechnology.

Sharma’s presence in this list underscores her impact and unwavering commitment to both the media industry and social welfare in India. Her efforts with organisations such as Udayachal and Sneha Bandhan demonstrate her dedication to creating a positive influence on society, particularly for the most vulnerable. Riniki Bhuyan Sharma’s acknowledgment positions her as a prominent figure in Assam and an inspiration for women nationwide.
