Tripura: Police said two people were injured in clashes between BJP and CPI (M) supporters near former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s ancestral home in Gomti district on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday night after a group of priests arrived at Deb’s residence in Rajdhanagar in the Jamjuri area of Udaipur to perform a Yajna as part of Deb’s father, Hirudhan Deb’s, annual Shradh ceremony.
According to police, two people were injured when BJP and CPI (M) supporters clashed near the ancestral home of former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in Gomati district on Wednesday.
According to Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirupam Dutta, one person was arrested for allegedly being involved in the clash that occurred in the Jamjuri area on Tuesday night.
The police have opened an investigation into the incident after filing a suo motu case, and a villager has also filed a complaint, alleging that CPI (M)-backed miscreants attacked BJP supporters.

“The situation has been brought under control, and one person has been arrested. “The investigation is ongoing,” said the SDPO.
A four-day yagna commemorating Deb’s father’s death anniversary was set to begin on Wednesday at their ancestral home in Jamjuri.
BJP activists decorated the house and surrounding area, while CPI(M) supporters also displayed party flags for their event there.
“Some of CPI(M) flags were allegedly found torn and thrown away, following which the clash broke out near the ancestral house of Deb.

“During the clash, one vehicle owned by a guest of Deb was allegedly torched by CPI(M) supporters, and two BJP activists were injured,” the SDPO said.
