The ethics and housing committees of the Rajya Sabha will be led by former union minister Prakash Javadekar and BJP member C.M. Ramesh, respectively.
According to announcements released by the Secretariat of the Upper House, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar reorganised numerous committees and designated their chairs.
Sujeet Kumar of the BJD and M. Thambidurai of the DMK have been chosen to lead the Rajya Sabha’s petitions committee and the panel on government assurances, respectively. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa of the BJP will preside over the parliamentary panel on papers brought on the table.
In June 2019, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa of Assam won a seat in the Rajya Sabha without any opposition. After Dr. Manmohan Singh’s term as India’s former prime minister expired, the seat became vacant. Since 1991, Dr. Singh has served as Assam’s representative in the Rajya Sabha for five consecutive terms.
