Andhra Pradesh’s capital will be Visakhapatnam, and Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will move there “in the months to come,” he announced today, apparently sticking to the three-capital plan — the other two being Kurnool and the existing capital Amaravati — despite the High Court ruling last year that it cannot make such a law.
Mr. Reddy’s YSRCP government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.

Mr Reddy, who made the statement about Visakhapatnam while promoting an upcoming investment summit, has consistently favoured the coastal city as the Executive Capital. He has previously stated that he will work from there.
“Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which will be our capital in the coming days,” he said, announcing the global summit on March 3 and 4. He did not provide a timeline, but did say, “I myself will be shifting over to Visakhapatnam in the coming months.”
