Union Minister Piyush Goyal today left New Delhi on a 3-day visit to Australia. His visit comes days after India and Australia signed the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, ECTA last Saturday. During his visit, Mr Goyal will take the significance of the ECTA to people and interact with business leaders, Indian students and Indian diaspora in Australia.
He will hold wide-ranging discussions with his Australian counterpart, Mr. Dan Tehan MP on carrying forward the ECTA. The Minister will also hold talks with Australian Prime Minister’s special trade envoy, Mr. Tony Abbott this evening. During his packed schedule, Mr Goyal will also address students and Indian diaspora to convey the benefits of the ECTA. AIR Correspondent reports that ECTA is the first trade agreement of India with a developed country after more than a decade which provides for an institutional mechanism to improve trade between India and Australia.
