National Green Hydrogen Mission: The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved an initial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore for the National Green Hydrogen Mission on Wednesday, with the goal of reducing emissions and becoming a major exporter in the field, according to union minister Anurag Thakur at a press conference on Cabinet decisions in Delhi. The move is intended to assist India, one of the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases, in reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

To encourage the production of low-cost equipment and technologies, two types of incentives will be provided: incentives for the production of electrolysers for five years and incentives for the production of green hydrogen. Green hydrogen hubs will also be built, according to Thakur.
According to Thakur, a Green Hydrogen Hub will be built to bring buyers and producers together under one roof.
The Cabinet has approved the Green Hydrogen Mission, which will produce 50 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2030.
During his Independence Day speech on August 15, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the National Hydrogen Mission. On Wednesday, the Union cabinet approved the proposal.
“The National Hydrogen Mission has been approved by the Cabinet. India will be the global green hydrogen hub “Thakur stated. The Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Project, worth Rs 2,614 crore, was also approved by the Union Cabinet.
Rs 2,539 crore has been approved for DD and AIR modernization, including equipment upgrades, FM transmitters, new studios, and so on.
The Cabinet also approved the renaming of Greenfield International Airport in Mopa, Goa as ‘Manohar International Airport – Mopa, Goa’ as a tribute to Manohar Parrikar, ex-defence minister and four-time Goa chief minister.
