Domino, a Dog member of the Indian Army, and his handler Lance Naik Lucky Kumar received recognition through the Northern Army Commendation Card for their commendable efforts in the Rajouri encounter.
Despite injuries sustained in the gunfight, Domino’s skill in tracing the blood trail of a Pakistani terrorist in the Kalakote area proved crucial in guiding the troops to the terrorists’ hideout.
Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi awarded Domino and his handler the Northern Army Commendation Card.
The Rajouri encounter, lasting two days, led to the elimination of two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. Furthermore, the Army confiscated significant quantities of ‘war-like stores’ in the course of the operation.
In a post on X, the Indian Army expressed praise and honoured the brave troops, including Army Dog ‘Domino,’ for their successful operation in challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions, as acknowledged by the Army Commander.
During the extended 36-hour gunfight that extended from Wednesday, five soldiers, including two Army Captains, tragically lost their lives.
