Assam’s ‘Mirbeen’ Feature Film is competing for the Prestigious Golden Peacock Award at 54th International Film Festival of India.
A moment of pride for Assam’s film industry as the Karbi film ‘Mirbeen’ secures a spot among the 15 exceptional films contending for the esteemed Golden Peacock Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Mridul Gupta directs the film, and Dhaniram Tisso produces it, proudly presenting ‘Mirbeen’ as the sole entry from Assam in this prestigious competition.
Focused on the leading character Mirbeen, the film elaborately tells a captivating story of aspirations, challenges, and perseverance. Drawing inspiration from her grandmother’s stories about Serdihun (the God of textile in Karbi tribal beliefs), Mirbeen sets forth on a quest to find purpose in her existence.
Yet, against the deafening backdrop of internal conflicts and ethnic tensions in 2005, her journey transforms into a dangerous quest.
The feature film category of the 54th IFFI presents a rich array of exceptional films, encompassing diverse genres, styles, and cultural expressions from across the world.
In the race for the prestigious Golden Peacock Award, ‘Mirbeen’ contends with Indian films like ‘Sanaa’ and ‘Kantara,’ alongside international titles such as ‘Woman Of’, ‘The Other Widow’, ‘The Party of Fools’, ‘Measures Of Men’, ‘Lubo’, ‘Hoffman’s Fairy Tales’, ‘Endless Borders’, ‘Die Before Death’, ‘Bosnian Pot’, ‘Blaga’s Lessons’, ‘Asog’, ‘Andragogy’, and ‘Kantara’.
