The land of Kamakhya, Guwahati is ready to host Lokmanthan 2022 from September 21 to September 24 at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. In a press meet held at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium, Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra, Guwahati, Suranjan Dutta, joint secretary, Lokmanthan 2022, said that this is the third edition of Lokmanthan and the theme of this year is Lokparampara (Lok traditions). J. Nandakumar, National Convenor Prajna Pravah, Dr. Gargi Saikia Mahanta, Working President, Lokmanthan Organising Committee, and Dr. Hirak Jyoti Sharma, General Secretary, IFNE were all present.
Lokmanthan was first organized in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in the year 2016.
‘Lokmanthan’ event is an initiative by ‘Prajna Pravah,’ an intellectual movement in India based on Bharatiya ethos and traditions in search of our country’s cultural and traditional treasures. This event is organized locally by the Intellectual Forum for the North East (IFNE), and it is co-hosted by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation.
According to the official website of Lokmanthan 2022 “The first edition of the Lokmanthan which focused on Desh-Kal-Sthithi was held in 2016. It reoriented the discourse of Nation under the rubrics of ‘Decolonising Indian Mind’, ‘Identity, Aspirations and National Integration, and ‘Role of Art, Culture, History, and Media in Nation Building’.
It further stated that “Lokmanthan 2018, (Bharat Bodh: Jan Gan Man) was mainly intended to provide an ideological platform for multi-layered discussions on topics from arts to environment.”
Lokmanthan 2022, the Guwahati Edition is ready to be held from 21st to 24th September, 2022.

Program Detail of Lokmanthan 2022 :
The event’s formal opening ceremony will take place on September 22 at 10 a.m. at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. The event’s chief guest will be India’s Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar. Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam and Nagaland, will be the guest of honor at the inaugural session, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will address the session as a distinguished guest.

On 21st September, an exhibition will be inaugurated by Chief Guest Bimal Bora, Minister of Industries & Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs; Government of Assam, Guest of honor Maharaja Sanajaoba leishemba, Manipur Hon’ble member of Rajya Sabha and Tirthanka Das Kalita, Boudhik Pramukh, RSS Assam Kshetra. The event will be followed by the Cultural Performance of North Eastern Communities and the Performance of Neel Akash & Mangka Laihui.

During ‘Lokmanthan,’ a series of intellectual sessions will be held, which will be addressed by Jishnu Dev Varma, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Government of Assam, and several prominent scholars from across the country. The Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Arif Muhammad Khan, will be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session on September 24th.

Every evening, some of the famous musicians of North East India will perform including Manipur’s popular folk band, Mangka Laihui, Nagaland’s well-known musical sisters, Tetseo Sisters, and Assam’s popular musical icons, Neel Akash, Dikshu, Mayuri Dutta, and Kalpana Patowari.
On the other hand, a variety of folk-dance forms from the North East, including Meghalaya’s Wangala Dance, Mizoram’s Cheraw Dance, Sattrya, Assam’s Bihu Dance, Tripura’s Hojagiri Dance, Nagaland’s Ao Warrior Dance, Arunachal Pradesh’s Yak Dance and Chinghi Chaam Dance, Manipur’s Dhol Chalam and Thangta Dance, and many others, will be presented by talented artists.
