Durga Puja 2022: Assam Govt Issues Fresh Set Of Guidelines

Ahead of the Durga Puja celebration, the Assam government issued a fresh set of guidelines for the committees and organizers.  After suffering from Covid 19 for the past two years, the country is preparing to celebrate Durga Puja in grand style. Although puja committees will have to take prior permission from the offices of deputy commissioners of all districts before organizing events.

Fresh Set Of Guidelines for Durga Puja 2022:

No Puja Pandal on road: To avoid traffic jams authorities had issued strict rules as no puja pandal can be put on the road.

Entries and exits will be different: There will be separate entry gates for women and men.

Use Biodegradable idol: Authorities have also requested not to use any non-biodegradable items for decoration. Every year the Brahmaputra river gets polluted severely because of idol immersion. The locations listed for Durga puja idol immersion are Sunsali ghat, Chandrapur, Basistha Ghat, Saukuchi Ghat, Kasomari Ghat, and Pandu Ghat, and Dharapur.

Another guideline is not to use loud music after 10 pm. If found guilty then a fine will be issued by the authorities.

An adequate number of volunteers should be recruited for the Puja Committee. To assist in traffic control and security. CCTV camera is mandatory in every pandal.

Fire extinguishers should be kept in stock at the puja mandap. A sufficient amount of water and sand will be required. High-quality electrical wires are to be avoided to control short circuits.

Any kind of liqueur sale is not allowed within the Durga Puja mandap parameter.

1st October, Saturday- Shashti

2nd October, Sunday- Saptami

3rd October, Monday- Ashtami

Durga Puja is a ten-day celebration. The festivities officially begin on the sixth day. According to popular mythology, Goddess Durga arrived on Earth on this day after killing the demon Mahishasur on the cosmic plane.
