Asha Parekh: The Veteran actor will receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2022

Asha Parekh is best known for her films like Kati Patang, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Teesri Manzil will receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2022. The Veteran actor will receive the country’s highest film honor in 2022 for her contributions to Indian cinema, according to news agency ANI, citing Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Anurag Thakur addressing the media said that “I am honoured to announce that Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to recognize & award Ms #ashaparekh Ji for her exemplary lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema The 68th National Film Awards will be held on 30th Sept 2022: Union Minister

On the other hand, she was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1992 for her contributions to cinema. Parekh peaked in the 1960s and 1970s and is widely regarded as one of the most influential actors in Hindi film history.

Asha Parekh and Director Nasir Hussain delivered multiple hits together such as Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963), Teesri Manzil (1966), Baharon Ke Sapne (1967), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969), and Caravan (1971). With Raj Khosla’s Do Badan (1966), Chirag (1969) and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978) and Shakti Samanta’s Kati Patang.

She was the highest-paid actress of her generation and one of the most successful actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. According to reports, Parekh began her career as a child artist under the alias Baby Asha Parekh. Famed film director Bimal Roy saw her dance at a stage function and cast her in Maa (1952) at the age of ten, and then again in Baap Beti) (1954).

Meanwhile, Asha left acting to become a television director for the Gujarati series Jyoti. Asha produced serials such as Palash ke Phool, Baaje Payal, Kora Kagaz, and Dal Mein Kaala through her production company, Akruti. She was a judge on 9X’s reality show Tyohaar Dhamaaka in 2008.
