Meta has announced the launch of “Meta Verified,” its own subscription model akin to Twitter Blue. One of the most significant benefits of the Meta Verified subscription is the ability to get verified on Instagram and Facebook. Users who have their profiles verified will see a blue tick next to their names, which has become a status symbol over the years. The subscription will also include an additional security feature to assist authentic creators in combating impersonated accounts. The Meta Verified is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand for $11.99 (approximately Rs 990) per month on the web or $14.99 (approximately Rs 1,240) per month on iPhones.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Sunday that Facebook and Instagram owner Meta will launch a paid subscription service starting at $11.99 per month that will allow users to verify their accounts, following a similar move by Elon Musk at Twitter.

Meta Verified, which will be available this week in Australia and New Zealand, will allow users to verify a “account with a government ID, get a blue badge, extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and direct access to customer support,” according to Mr. Zuckerberg.

Meta Verified’s price in India will most likely be reduced in order to appeal to a broader audience. If the Rs 1,200 price remains, the subscription will be more expensive than Twitter Blue (Rs 900) and even Netflix’s premium plan (Rs 649).

Meta states in a blog post that users will need to provide a government ID to be verified on Facebook and Instagram. The benefits of Meta Verified include a verified badge, increased impersonation protection, better customer service, increased visibility and reach, and exclusive features (stickers on stories). Meta, on the other hand, will not limit advertisements with its Meta Verified subscription.
