Sonitpur: On February 24, at least five people were killed when their vehicle lost control and crashed into a roadside dumper in Balipara, Assam’s Sontipur district.

According to sources, they were on their way to Tezpur when the incident occurred.

They were identified as Dipen Bora, Bidyut Nath, Bhaikon Patangia, Akashdip Bora and Biswajit Saikia.

Earlier this month, at least two people were killed when a Tata dumper collided with a truck travelling in the opposite direction on National Highway 17 near Boko Police Station in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district.

On January 24, the dumper with the registration number AS01 NC 9882 collided with the truck with the registration number AS01 JC 3904.

“A Guwahati bound sand-laden Tata Dumper was parked on the roadside to rest, while the Goalpara bound Tata Dumper and the other truck collided face to face,” said a local named Chandan Sharma.

Sharma went on to claim that the incident occurred solely because the Guwahati-bound truck attempted to overtake the other parked Tata Dumper.

“Immediately following the incident, he called the police, and Boko Police responded quickly. However, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Boko has recently responded to the accident,” he added.
