What is Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme?
The Assam cabinet approved parental leave on the 6th and 7th of January this year in order to give state government employees enough time to spend quality time with their family members. The Assam Department of General Administration has created a new portal called “Matri Pitri Vandana” to provide online casual leave for Assam government employees.
During these days, an employee can go home and spend time with his or her parents or in-laws. However, these leaves cannot be used for any other purpose, and employees whose parents are no longer alive are not eligible to take this leave. According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, all employees, from top civil servants to fourth grade, are eligible for the leave.
