Assamese Swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika crossed the North Channel. The record holder natator became the first swimmer from Northeast India to cross the North Channel. Hazarika also became the oldest swimmer from India to cross the strait between north-eastern Northern Ireland and south-western Scotland.

On the other hand, the current Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Cabinet Minister of AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter to congratulate the swimmer.

The first oldest swimmer from India, Elvis crossed the North Channel clocking a time of 14hrs 38mins.
Meanwhile, ‘Jalkonwar’ Elvis Ali Hazarika is on Mission Aparaajay that comprises 42 km North Channel, 38 km English Channel and a relay of 1200 km Gujarat-Goa-Mumbai. SM Developers are going to support the international swimmer to accomplish Mission Aparaajay.

Earlier this year, he was hospitalized in Mumbai after his health deteriorates. Along with breathing problems, he is also suffered from fatigue and infection from the salt water of the sea. It was a challenging swim as they swam alongside big fish, jellyfish, and dolphins, as well as going against the current in places.
Elvis Ali Hazarika and his relay team became the first from North East India to complete the Indo-Arabian Gateway Mumbai Circle swim. The swim was 200 kilometers long and took 53 hours to complete.
