The majority of Assam’s roads are still in a dilapidated state. The people of Kaziranga’s Borbeel village slammed the government on Tuesday for the poor road condition. The villagers are upset because the road has not been repaired despite repeated requests to the MLA.

Residents were outraged that, despite years of suffering, the PWD department had taken no action to repair the damaged road.

The entire village came out to help build a road by donating their labour. It should be noted that the road leading to Borbeel village in the West Kaziranga gram panchayat has been in disrepair for many years.

This road connecting National Highway 37 is in disrepair. In Mising Borbeel village, there is no access to 108 ambulances to transport a pregnant woman or a patient to the hospital.

Students are also facing difficulties in commuting to and from school. Therefore, on several occasions, the local people have been demanding the village panchayat as well as the local MLA to construct the road, but to date, the road has not been constructed.

The locale further said that Atul Bora, MLA from Bokakhat constituency and agriculture minister, could not keep his promise of constructing a road ahead of the elections. Eventually, the local people had to work and repair the road.

It is to be noted that various government development works in Mising Barbil village, which is under the second addition of Kaziranga National Park, have been stopped. Locals request MLA and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora to resolve the problems by constructing this road, even if on a temporary basis.
