Six labourers narrowly escaped an accident when the boat they were travelling in, overturned in Brahmaputra river at Jogighopa in Bongaigaon district.
The incident happened on Thursday, 2 November. Another boat in the area saved the labourers, who were employed by the construction company A.P Singhlal to oversee the construction of the Jogighopa- Goalpara bridge.
The cause of the boat that overturned is currently unknown.
In an incident earlier, in August, about 32 passengers on a ferry boat in Dibang river, Sadia, in Tinsukia district of Assam, hardly escaped an accident.
It has been reported that the boat overturned after striking an underwater wooden structure, leading to its sinking. The incident happened close to Amarpur Ghat, and people on the river bank immediately noticed it.
