Assam’s soldier goes missing in Ladakh, during routine training exercise, belongings return home.

Two Indian Army officers had returned the missing soldier’s belongings back to his family in the district of Dhemaji, Assam. On October 8, during a routine training exercise, a snowstorm near Mount Kun caused the soldier, Gautam Rajbongshi, to disappear in Ladakh.

On Thursday, the officers paid a visit to Rajbongshi’s family and gave back his belongings.

The family was informed by the officers that rescue operations would be suspended until April or May of next year due to the extreme snowfall that currently exists in Ladakh.

Rajbongshi’s wife had previously written to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, pleading for an immediate start of search and rescue efforts to find her husband.
