In keeping with their tradition of recognizing high-achieving students, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed scooters on Thursday to students who excelled in the Higher Secondary (HS) examination of 2023 with a score of 75 percent or above, as part of the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award.
Sources indicate that a total of 35,770 students who achieved a score of 75 percent or higher were honoured with the award at ceremonies conducted across various districts in Assam.
During the event, CM Sarma expressed, “My tenure as Education Minister taught me that rewarding academic excellence should be the corner stone of an inclusive education policy”.
“The 35,770 scooties distributed by our government today to outstanding students stands as a profound symbol of recognition to merit and hard work” he added.
CM Sarma also posted on X motivating the students who were not able to receive the award through academic performance.
For those of my friends who didn’t get scooty this time, do not feel dejected.
Remember there is no substitute for hard work. Sustained focus and dedication to studies will ensure you are capable of buying one yourself, soon! pic.twitter.com/ujBRAYz6YJ
