Dibrugarh University Ragging Case: The newly elected General Secretary of the Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students’ Union (DUPGSU) was allegedly involved in the November 30 ragging incident.
Anand Sarma, a victim student who is currently undergoing treatment, made this shocking revelation.
According to Anand Sarma’s allegations, the General Secretary, Ujjal Ankur Borah, snatched the victim’s cell phone while he was being tortured for ragging.
Anand Sarma also claimed that the general secretary threatened him with not disclosing any information about the ragging incident to anyone.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, another suspect in the Dibrugarh University ragging incident was apprehended. Subhrajit Baruah, the arrested student leader, has been identified.
On the other hand, 22 university students have been rusticated for their alleged involvement in the ragging case.
Assam’s Dibrugarh University rusticated at least 22 students and expelled them from the university hostel on Monday for their alleged role in ragging a student who eventually jumped off the varsity hostel’s two-story building “to save himself from mental and physical harassment.” According to reports, the incident happened Saturday evening and lasted until Sunday morning. Anand Sharma, the victim, is a first-semester M.Com student. On Sunday afternoon, he was admitted to the hospital.
Anand Sharma’s mother pleaded with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide his son with the best possible care. According to reports , Victim Anand Sarma to shifted to AIIMS for better treatment.
The university’s Registrar filed an FIR in the incident, which stated that Sharma was mentally and physically assaulted from 4.30 p.m. on Saturday until 5 a.m. on Sunday at the Padmanath Gohain Baruah hostel on campus.
Anand Sarma, a resident of Amguri in Assam, is being treated at the Aditya Hospital in Dibrugarh.
