Assam: Officials said on Tuesday that a five-month pregnant teacher was allegedly abused by a group of students in Assam’s Dibrugarh district after she informed the parents of one of the students about his poor academic performance and behavior at school.
The Vice Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, who is also acting as Principal in Charge, was heckled along with another teacher by a group of students from classes 10 and 11 at the school in Moran.
As a formal complaint against the minor students must be filed, no FIR has been filed.
The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday (November 27), when a group of students mobbed the pregnant history teacher after she complained about one of the students’ poor academic record during the morning Parents Teacher Council (PTC) meeting, according to Rathees Kumar, the Vice Principal “Following the meeting, some students formed a gang and began harassing the teacher in front of the main academic building. Several of them shoved her, and one attempted to pull her by her hair.”

The teacher was so traumatized by the minor students who mobbed her that she was on the verge of collapsing, but her female colleagues, students, and staffers rescued her from the mob and rushed her to the hospital in the school car, accompanied by a female attendant.
Following the threat over the phone, Kumar and other school teachers went to the Moran Police Station. Following that, police arrived on the school grounds and issued stern warnings to the students. According to a senior police official, no FIR has been filed in the case because no complaint has been filed against the minor students.
