Meta launched Twitter rival ‘Threads’

The app has an easy to understand and simple interface at the moment. It seems to be a mix of Instagram and Twitter. Like microblogging platforms, one can like, comment, repost and share "threads".

Meta has launched a new app called ‘Threads’ on July 6 to compete with the social media platform Twitter. It is a text sharing edition of Meta’s photo and video sharing app Instagram. Meta says that this new app is a new platform for the latest information and public conversation.

Mark Zuckerberg posted via his newly launched app that the platform has crossed 2 million sign-ups within the first two hours.

Recently, Threads’ web interface went live for everyone ahead of its July 6 launch. It gave users a glimpse of what to expect from the Threads app, which has now been released for iOS and Android as well.

The app has an easy to understand and simple interface at the moment. It seems to be a mix of Instagram and Twitter. Like microblogging platforms, one can like, comment, repost and share “threads”.

On the new app, Instagram users will be able to sign in using their existing user ID and follow the same profile. All new users will be required to create an Instagram account.
