According to former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Sharma should lead Team India in the forthcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. The much-awaited marquee event is scheduled to take place in the Caribbeans and the United States in June next year.

As of now, there is little clarity over who will lead the team in the World Cup. Rohit Sharma has not played a T20I for more than a year. His last appearance in T20Is came during the 2022 T20 World Cup. In his absence, Hardik Pandya has been leading the T20I side. However, speculations are rife that Rohit Sharma might lead the team in the T20 World Cup, especially after his impressive display as a captain and a batsman in the ODI World Cup.

And Sourav Ganguly also believes that Rohit Sharma should be the man in charge for the T20 World Cup. Speaking at a recent event, the former India cricketer hailed Rohit Sharma as a leader and said that he should be the captain if he is available.

“Once Rohit is back playing all formats, he should be the captain of India because he’s done so well in the World Cup. He’s a leader. So I expect, and I presume that he will continue as captain till the T20 World Cup,” Sourav Ganguly said.
