Indian Wrestler Protests News: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met with the Indian wrestlers who were protesting Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Saturday to show her support for them.

Gandhi arrived at Jantar Mantar in the morning and was spotted mingling with prominent female wrestlers like Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat. Gandhi is slated to participate in a number of electoral rallies in Karnataka later in the day.

Seven female wrestlers have accused Singh of sexual harassment, and the Delhi Police have filed two FIRs against him. Gandhi demanded that the police produce the FIR copy and claimed that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet responded to the protests and accusations leveled against BJP leader Singh, she has no ‘expectations’ from him. He would have at least spoken to the wrestlers if he had been worried about them.

When they won medals, he had invited them over for tea. They are our girls, so talk to them,” she said.

Gandhi called for Singh’s removal in order to stop any additional “destruction of careers.” A few days prior to the meeting, the Congress leader criticized the government for ‘ignoring’ the wrestlers’ demands and questioned whether it was supporting the accused.

The Delhi Police on Friday filed two cases against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief after the Supreme Court ordered them to do so. One of the FIRs is over a complaint of sexual harassment by a minor, filed under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which gives no scope for bail.
