Nagaland: mjunction, a B2B e-commerce company, has taken a step forward in the agro-commodities space by launching an e-marketplace for large cardamom producers and sellers who are registered with the Spices Board of India.

The e-commerce platform mjunction will enable the e-sale of large cardamom to buyers all over India.

The Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development in association with Directorate of Horticulture, Nagaland has organised an “Awareness programme on Accreditation of Large Cardamom Nurseries” on 22.09.2022 at Directorate of Horticulture, Kohima, Nagaland.

Large cardamom will be sold on an online platform for the first time. The Spices Board of India held a seminar last week in Dimapur, Nagaland, to officially launch the e-selling project. The first online event for a Farmer-Producer Company (FPC) in Phek, Nagaland, will take place soon.

D Sathiyan, secretary of the Spices Board in Kochi, virtually launched the pilot project at an export-oriented seminar focused on Naga spices and the launch of large cardamom e-commerce in Chumoukedima.

Mhathung Yanthan, adviser to the horticulture and border affairs department, said the Spices Board initiative will go a long way toward creating opportunities for farmers to market, produce, and earn revenue.

This e-commerce initiative with mjunction is part of the Spices Board’s initiatives to promote indigenous spices of the Northeast, with the goal of creating a consistent supply chain for the region’s locally grown large cardamom, according to Sathiyan.

Nagaland produces approximately 2133 metric tonnes of cardamom per year on 3,873 hectares of land, according to Agriculture Production Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema.

He claims that the initiative on large cardamom e-commerce is the first of its kind in the state.
