Nagaland Election Result 2023: Hekani Jakhalu becomes first woman MLA in Nagaland after winning with a margin of 1536 votes representing Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party in Dimapur-III constituency. She was one of four female candidates in the Nagaland Assembly election this year.
Exit polls predict that the BJP will easily cross the majority threshold in the battle for 60 seats, taking 42 seats with its coalition partner, the National Democratic Progressive Party. Given the state of the opposition in Nagaland, the ruling coalition was far ahead of the race, and exit polls appear to be along the same lines, with the Congress receiving only one seat and the NPF (a once formidable force) receiving six.

The counting of votes cast in the Nagaland assembly elections is currently underway. On February 27, the northeastern state voted, with approximately 85.79% of the population voting. The state made elaborate security arrangements ahead of the counting, including a three-tier cordoning system for counting EVMs across 16 election districts. Re-elections were held on Tuesday at four polling stations in Nagaland.
