Former India Fotballer and ZPM leader Jeje Lakpekhlua has won from the south Tuipui Assembly seat with a margin of 135 votes.
Jeje Defeated Mizoram Health Minister and MNF Candidate R Lalthangliana. Zoram People’s Movement Candidate Jeje Lalpekhlua got 5,468 votes while Mizo National Front candidate R Lalthangliana secured 5,333 votes.
Jeje retired from professional football in February this year. He is one of the best footballers that has ever produced from Mizoram. He scored 23 goals in 56 matches for the National Team. He started his professional career from Pune FC’s academy. After he also played for Indian Arrows on loan. He joined Mohun Bagan through Dempo. Won the I-League for Green and Maroon. Joined Chennaiyin on loan from Mohun Bagan. Jeje also won two ISLs for Chennaiyin Fc.
