Assam Arunachal border dispute likely to be resolve by 2023- Amit Shah

The inter-state border dispute between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam likely to  be resolved by next year. This was stated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. Amit Shah claimed that efforts are being made to make the North East ‘rebel free’. He said 9,000 militants from the region have surrendered in the last eight years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Addressing the golden jubilee celebrations of Ramakrishna Mission School at Deomali in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, Amit Shah said the Centre is committed to bring peace and development in the region. Amit Shah said the Arunachal Pradesh and Assam governments are working for a friendly and permanent solution to the inter-state border dispute.

“More than 60% of the disputed areas on the Assam-Meghalaya boundary has been resolved. We are optimistic that similar disputes between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam would be resolved by next year,” Mr. Shah said.

The Union Home Minister also said that Centre are committed to fulfilling three goals for the  development of the North East.

“The first goal is to not only safeguard the local culture, languages, tradition but also to enrich them. The second is to make the northeast free from disputes, guns, insurgency and give its youth a platform for competing with their contemporaries beyond. The third is to ensure all the States in the northeast are on a par with the developed States elsewhere in the country,” he said., adding that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is working on these goals.
