“I am pleased that Gujarat has once again taken the lead in achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of clean energy generation.” “We are determined to meet his goal of producing 50% of India’s energy needs through renewable energy by 2030,” Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said in a statement.
The governments of India and Gujarat launched the ‘Solarisation of Modhera Sun Temple and Town’ project to provide Modhera with 24 hour solar power via a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sujjanpura in Mehsana, about 6 kilometres from the Sun Temple.
The state government provided 12 hectares of land for the project’s development. Both the central and state governments have spent Rs 80.66 crore in two phases, split 50:50 – Rs 69 crore in Phase I and Rs 11.66 crore in Phase II.
The heritage lighting and 3D projection at Sun Temple will also be powered by solar energy. The 3D projection will teach visitors about Modhera’s history. Every evening, the projection will run for 15 to 18 minutes. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., visitors can enjoy the heritage lightings. Meanwhile, the 3D projection will be available every evening from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a number of projects in Modhera, Mehsana, on October 9 at around 5:30 p.m. This will be followed by Darshan and Pooja at Modheshwari Mata Temple at approximately 6:45 p.m., and a visit to Surya Mandir at approximately 7:30 p.m “the Prime Minister’s Office claims (PMO).
