After India’s heartbreaking loss in the World Cup finals, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), urging them not to schedule matches on the birthdays of members of the Gandhi family.
Suggesting a connection between India’s loss and playing the finals on Indira Gandhi’s birthday, CM Sarma remarked, “Despite our consistent victories, we faced defeat in the finals. Upon investigation, I discovered that the World Cup final coincided with Indira Gandhi’s birthday.”
“We played the World Cup on Indira Gandhi’s birthday, and the country failed”, he added.
Continuing his criticism of the Gandhi family, the Chief Minister remarked, “I urge the BCCI not to schedule India’s matches on the birthdays of Gandhi family members. This lesson is derived from the experience of the World Cup final.”
#TelanganaWithBJP@BJP4Telangana pic.twitter.com/w46gXykUJ4

India’s defeat in the World Cup finals took a political twist when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘panauti,’ claiming that India’s loss was attributed to the prime minister’s presence in the stadium.
