A police officer in Uttar Pradesh, was sent to police lines after a selfie taken by his wife and children with a significant amount of cash went viral.In the viral photo the officer’s wife and two children can be seen posing on a bed with stacks of Rs 500 notes totaling Rs 14 lakh.
A senior officer ordered an immediate investigation into the matter after the photograph went viral. Ramesh Chandra Sahani, the station-in-charge has been transferred to the police lines.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Shankar Meena sent the SHO to police lines and ordered a probe by the Bangarmau circle officer (CO).
CO Pankaj Singh said in the viral social media post, Sahani’s family members were seen sitting with bundles of Rs 500 currency notes. A probe into the matter was underway, he said.
However, Ramesh Chandra Sahani defended himself and said that the photo was taken on 14 November, 2021, when he sold a family property.
