Happy Republic Day 2023
On Republic Day, the President of the country receives 21 gun salutes. With a gap of 2.25 seconds, 21 cannons are fired. The gun salute lasts 52 seconds and is comprised of three rounds of seven cannons each. This year’s 21 Gun Salute will be fired by 105 mm Indian Field Guns made in India (IFGs). The ammunition has also been manufactured locally.
The IAF’s Contingent has been adjudged as the best Republic Day Parade Marching Contingent in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2020. In 2022, they won the People’s Choice award.
