Lok Sabha Security breach: Two unidentified man jumps inside the Lok Sabha

Two individuals leaped into the Lok Sabha from the visitors' gallery, causing a significant security alarm on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack.

On Wednesday, two individuals leaped into the Lok Sabha from the visitors’ gallery, causing a significant security alarm on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack and one of the individuals opened a canister releasing yellow smoke into the sabha.

The 2001 Parliament attack, occured on December 13, 2001, on the Indian Parliament in New Delhi, India. Carried out by five armed assailants, the attack led to the fatalities of six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, and a gardener. Security forces successfully neutralised all five attackers.

According to sources, an unidentified man wearing a blue jacket jumped inside the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. He was sitting in the visitor’s gallery. The incident happened even as security personnel were present in the galleries. Reportedly, this incident took place on the anniversary of 2001 parliament attack.

BSP MP Ram Shiromani Verma mentioned that security personnel discovered an Aadhaar card with a Lucknow address on one of the two intruders. Describing the event, he stated that the entire parliament filled with smoke when one of the individuals opened a canister releasing yellow smoke. “All MPs confronted him, subdued him, and handed him over to the security,” he explained.

The Member of Parliament and security personnel apprehended the pair and turned them over to the Delhi Police, who are presently conducting an interrogation. Limited information is available regarding the individuals or their motives. 

The security within Parliament has sealed off the complete gallery, Lok Sabha chamber, and the adjacent zones. The Lok Sabha has been adjourned until 2 pm.

There is a likelihood that the Lok Sabha Speaker will convene a meeting to assess security within the Parliament chambers. Simultaneously, Delhi Police have apprehended a man and a woman from the vicinity of the Parliament. They were engaged in a protest involving colored smoke.
