Delhi: According to government sources, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi are likely to replace Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Cabinet. Following the resignation of Manish Sisodia, Minister Raaj Kumar Anand was given the additional charge of education and health departments. He stated that his party’s goal of providing good education and health facilities to the people of the city will remain unchanged. Speaking to PTI shortly after taking over, he stated that he has asked all departments assigned to him to prepare PPTs of their work.

Today, arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain resigned from the Delhi cabinet. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister, accepted their resignations and reassigned their ministries.

The resignations were described as a “administrative step” rather than an admission of guilt, according to AAP. According to party sources, no new ministers will be appointed until the Delhi Budget next month.

Ministers Kailash Gahlot and Raj Kumar Anand were given Manish Sisodia’s departments.

On Sunday, Manish Sisodia was arrested on suspicion of corruption in the Delhi liquor policy case. He predicted that he would be in jail for “7-8 months” before his arrest.

“I am stepping down until the charges against me are proven false,” Mr Sisodia wrote in his resignation letter, which was sent shortly after the Supreme Court refused to hear his petition challenging his arrest and advised him to first seek relief from a lower court.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi was in charge of 18 ministries, including Satyendar Jain’s health portfolio, which he had held for 10 months. Mr Sisodia stated that he had served Delhi “with complete dedication” for the past eight years.

The Delhi cabinet now has five ministers, including Mr Kejriwal, who has not taken on any ministry, preferring to pursue AAP’s national plans.

Mr Sisodia, widely regarded as Mr Kejriwal’s number two in the party and government, had taken over the majority of ministries, freeing up the AAP chief to focus on the party’s campaign across the country.

When Satyendar Jain was arrested in May over allegations of money laundering, Mr Kejriwal simply transferred his departments to Mr Sisodia. Despite his imprisonment, Mr. Jain kept his job.
