Baba Ramdev, the Yoga Guru, vigorously supported Patanjali Ayurved today, stating that the company has not participated in any false propaganda.

In a press briefing, Ramdev denied the reports circulating on multiple media outlets regarding the Supreme Court’s rebuke of Patanjali. He further claimed that a faction of doctors is disseminating misinformation against him and his company, specifically aimed at yoga and Ayurveda.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued a warning to Patanjali Ayurved, a company co-founded by yoga guru Ramdev, specializing in herbal products, advising them against making “false” and “misleading” claims in advertisements regarding the curative properties of their medicines for various diseases.

On August 23, 2022, the Supreme Court had sent notices to the Union health ministry, Ministry of Ayush, and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd in response to a plea from the IMA, accusing Ramdev of conducting a smear campaign against the vaccination drive and contemporary medicines.

The bench mentioned that it might contemplate imposing a penalty of Rs 1 crore for each product in case of false claims asserting its ability to cure a specific ailment.

The Supreme Court, while sending notices based on the plea, strongly criticized Ramdev for critisizing allopathy and practitioners of allopathic medicine. The court emphasized the necessity of restraining him from derogatory remarks against doctors and other treatment systems.

A video of the press conference has been shared by ANI, a multimedia news agency, on X, where Ramdev clarified about the criticism passed on Patanjali products and also stated that they are even ready for the death penalty if they were found guilty.
