Earthquake News: Earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 5.3 jolt Nepal’s Baglung

According to Nepal’s National Earthquake Monitoring & Research Center (NEMRC), two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.7 and 5.3 occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Nepal’s Baglung district. A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Adhikari Chaur in the Baglung District at 01:23, according to epicentre measurements (local time).

“An Earthquake of ml 4.7 occurred around Adhikari Chaur of Baglung District at 01:23 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG,” NEMRC tweeted. According to NEMRC, Nepal, the second earthquake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, occurred near Khunga in the Baglung District at 02:07 (local time).

 

Because of the earthquakes, people in Joshimath, Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, are more afraid than ever. People flocked to the streets on Saturday, December 24. because homes in many Joshimath neighbourhoods are sinking beneath the ground. The walls are starting to crack badly.

This has been going on for several days, according to locals. There are large cracks in 513 homes across 9 wards in Joshimath. Every day, news of house cracks is reported from various Joshimath wards. People are scared and worried about their safety. Joshimath’s land is allegedly sinking as a result of the tunnel for the Tapovan Vishnugarh hydroelectric project, which will be built there.

The second earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale reportedly struck around Khunga of Baglung District at 02:07 (local time), NEMRC, Nepal tweeted.

“An Earthquake of ml 5.3 occurred around Khunga of Baglung District at 02:07 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG,” the tweet read.
