China: Male models are showing off ladies’ undergarments in China to promote the country’s live-stream lingerie industry. Following China’s ban on women modeling for lingerie online, live-stream fashion companies are replacing female models with male models.
Several companies have been shut down in China for violating a law that prohibits the online distribution of ‘obscene’ material. As a result, companies have begun to live stream films of men wearing push-up bras, form-fitting corsets, and lace-trimmed nightgowns, as they do not want to lose potential revenue.
According to the New York Post, companies that feature female models in scantily clad looks have a history of being shut down for violating China’s law against spreading obscene material online. And, in order to avoid losing potential revenue due to the ban, companies have resorted to hiring male models to flaunt women’s lingerie, such as push-up bras, tight-fitting corsets, and lace-trimmed nightgowns.
在中国,女人在直播间里是不能穿内衣出镜的。否则直播间将因为涉嫌传播淫秽而立刻被永久封禁。那如果我非要在直播间带货卖女式内衣该怎么办呢?很简单,找男人来穿。 pic.twitter.com/4CHlq7fMdx

More than 2,000 people liked the video, and many others commented on it. Online users quickly expressed their thoughts on the gender-bending move. According to one user, if it were a female model, the live stream would be interrupted every two minutes. “It’s not like this hasn’t happened before, and it continues to deny a lot of women job opportunities,” the user stated. “The male wears it better than the female,” said one.
Livestreams featuring female lingerie models have a history of being quickly shut down and banned as a result of the country’s law prohibiting the spread of obscene material online. To get around the ban, some of these companies began hiring male models to model women’s lingerie, according to the outlet.
After being posted on Douyin, the video received 2,000 likes and several comments from people who disagreed with the gender-bending decision.
“The guy looks better than the girl,” one user commented. “If it’s a female model, the live stream would be banned every other minute, it’s not like this hasn’t happened before, this is still depriving a group of women of job opportunities,” wrote another.
