Khan’s first film after ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ was this 1989 action film directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. The film, which received widespread critical acclaim and three National Film Awards in 1989, cast Khan in the dark role of a young man who embarks on a complicated path following a tragic incident.

 

2. Lagaan 

Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, continues to bring tears to the eyes of every Indian. It’s a film that serves as a stark reminder of the oppression we experienced under British rule. The musical sports drama centres on Bhuvan, an innocent villager played by Aamir Khan.

3. Taare Zameen Par 

Aamir Khan takes dyslexic Ishaan under his wing to help him find his place in the world, running after scores and numbers. Aamir Khan and actor Darsheel Safary, who played Ishaan, left an indelible impression on audiences while raising an important issue with sensitivity.

4. Sarfarosh

Khan played ACP Ajay Kumar Singh Rathod in the 1999 drama ‘Sarfarosh,’ directed by John Mathew Matthan. Rathod, a medical student, drops out of school to join the India Police Service after his brother is killed and his father is severely injured by terrorists.

5. Andaz Apna Apna

Surprisingly, when it was released in 1994, the film had nothing going for it. The lead actors did not get along, and the songs appeared dated, resulting in a lukewarm response at the box office. However, as time passed, the film gained cult status and is now regarded as one of the best comedies produced by Bollywood. Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal co-star.
