Assam: A woman in Silchar stabbed her husband mercilessly to death, according to reports on Wednesday, amid an alarming rise in horrific murder cases in Assam.

According to reports, the shocking incident occurred today in Kabiura Meherpur, Silchar, Assam. This comes in the wake of the heinous Shraddha Walkar-style murder in Guwahati, which has shocked the entire state.

The horrifying stabbing incident in Silchar came to light when the wife surrendered to the Silchar Police after having committed the murder.

Mappi Begum, the victim’s wife, was identified as the perpetrator by Silchar Police. Meanwhile, Farmin Uddin Laskar, the husband who was stabbed to death, was identified.

Similar to the Guwahati murder, where police believe prime accused Bondona Kalita was involved in extramarital affairs, police in Silchar believe an illicit relationship outside of her marriage was the cause of the stabbing.

Silchar Police has launched an investigation into the matter and will charge the accused wife under relevant sections of the law.

Further research is being conducted in this regard. Recently, a shocking Guwahati twin murder case came to light, in which one Bandana Kalita and two associates murdered her mother-in-law and husband and then disposed of the chopped body parts in Dawki, Meghalaya.

During interrogation, Bondona Kalita, the accused, told police that she and two accomplices murdered her husband Amarjyoti Dey and mother-in-law Shaknari Dey. Following the murder, the trio chopped the bodies into smaller pieces and stored them in a refrigerator for three days.

It should be noted that on February 19, a gruesome double murder in Guwahati came to light after police interrogated the main suspect.

Bondona Kalita, the main accused in the case, committed the murder with her lover and another friend. They conspired to assassinate her husband Amarjyoti Dey and mother-in-law Shankari Dey.

It may be noted that the mother-son duo, the victims in the case, were reported missing since August last year. Following Bondona Kalita’s arrest, the horrifying murder case came to light.
