Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Guwahati Ahead of the Vice President’s visit. Vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar will arrive in Guwahati on Thursday for the inauguration ceremony of Lokmanthan 2022. The new guidelines have been issued by the officials through a press release on Wednesday.

According to guidelines, Cargo vehicles (6 wheels and up) will be restricted on NH-17 and NH-27 on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Furthermore, from 9.00 AM to 3.30 PM on September 22, 2022, movement of goods carrying vehicles, small, medium, and heavy, will be restricted on DG Road, AT Road, MG Road, CLUB Road, Tayabullah Road, GB Road, B Borooah Road, GS Road, and Panjabari Road.

On the DG Road, AT Road, MG Road, KLB Road, B. Baruah Road, GS Road, and Panjabari Road, major regulations have been issued for small, medium, and heavy goods carrying vehicles.
The rules will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
‘Lokmanthan’ event is an initiative by ‘Prajna Pravah,’ an intellectual movement in India based on Bharatiya ethos and traditions in search of our country’s cultural and traditional treasures. This event is organized locally by the Intellectual Forum for the North East (IFNE), and it is co-hosted by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation.
According to the official website of Lokmanthan 2022 “The first edition of the Lokmanthan which focused on Desh-Kal-Sthithi was held in 2016. It reoriented the discourse of Nation under the rubrics of ‘Decolonising Indian Mind’, ‘Identity, Aspirations and National Integration, and ‘Role of Art, Culture, History, and Media in Nation Building’.
During ‘Lokmanthan,’ a series of intellectual sessions will be held, which will be addressed by Jishnu Dev Varma, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Government of Assam, and several prominent scholars from across the country. The Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Arif Muhammad Khan, will be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session on September 24th.
