Parmita and Mazin, a couple who wished to address the twin issues of pollution and illiteracy in their neighborhood, founded the school in a remote village. In order to address these issues, they constructed this school, where kids can learn for free as long as they gather plastic bottles on a weekly basis. This plastic is then put to sustainable use by being utilized to create roads, bricks, and even toilets.
According to the video the older kids educate the younger ones at this school. The younger children learn languages, crafting, gardening, and other skills while the older students work and earn money. It is also to be noted that the school has a zero percent dropout rate. Moreover the school does not follow the CBSE or ICSE board curriculum instead it follows the NIOS (National InstituteofOpen Schooling) educational system.
